Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education: Regular BOS Funds May Be Used for TKA Implementation
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has stated that Regular School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds can be utilised to support the implementation of the Academic Ability Test (TKA), covering everything from the preparation and implementation stages to evaluation.
The Secretary of the Agency for Basic and Secondary Education Policy (BKPDM) of Kemendikdasmen, Muhammad Yusro, stated that the rental of devices to support the TKA implementation is, in principle, permitted, provided that local financial management is observed and coordination is conducted with local education offices.
“The TKA is designed to provide more objective and fair information regarding individual achievements. It must be emphasised that the TKA is non-compulsory, free of charge, and does not determine graduation. Student graduation remains entirely at the discretion of the educational institution,” Yusro said in Central Jakarta on Tuesday.
He noted that all operational needs, from the preparation to the execution of the TKA, can be supported using Regular BOS Funds through the assessment and learning evaluation activity components.
However, as BOS funds are regional transfer funds, he reminded that the mechanisms for disbursing honorariums or device rentals must still adhere to financial management guidelines and the standard price regulations of the local government.
With these provisions in place, educational institutions can prepare for TKA requirements while remaining compliant with applicable fund management regulations.
As of 28 August, Kemendikdasmen recorded that 3,559,610 high school students have registered to participate in the TKA this year. Registration remains open until 27 September 2026, with implementation scheduled for 26–29 October 2026 for the first wave and 2–5 November 2026 for the second wave.
