Ministry of Manpower to oversee resolution of industrial relations at PT IEI
The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) is committed to overseeing the resolution of industrial disputes and enforcement of labour standards at PT Indonesian Epson Industry (IEI).
Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor stated on Monday in Jakarta that Kemnaker will deploy a special team shortly to provide guidance and conduct inspections regarding industrial relations dynamics at the company.
“We have received 11 representatives from the Global Indonesian Workers’ Federation (F-SPGI) and listened to all their concerns. Kemnaker will send a special team to provide guidance and deploy the Labour Inspection Team to conduct checks. We hope for the best resolution to this dispute,” said the Deputy Minister.
F-SPGI has raised several demands with Kemnaker, including allegations of union busting, implementation of fixed-term employment contracts (PKWT), enforcement of the collective labour agreement (PKB), and protection for 12 workers allegedly affected by PKWT issues.
Furthermore, Deputy Minister Afriansyah emphasised the government’s serious attention to the matter, both in seeking collaborative solutions and enforcing applicable labour regulations.
“The government will push for the best resolution for the 12 workers involved in this dispute. It is not an easy issue, but we hope an agreement can be reached,” Afriansyah said.
He expressed hope that this moment would foster more positive collaboration and compliance with regulations between the workers’ union, PT IEI management, and the government.
Additionally, Kemnaker assured that all handling processes would be conducted transparently with good governance principles.
In response to this commitment, F-SPGI President Abdul Bais expressed appreciation for Kemnaker’s swift response and attention to the workers’ aspirations and rights.
