Ministry of Manpower Strengthens Integration of MagangHub with Competency Certification
Minister of Manpower Yassierli has emphasised the importance of integrating the National Internship (MagangHub) programme with competency certification to enhance the quality of Indonesia’s human resources. According to him, internship participants not only need to be equipped with work experience but also with standardised proof of competency to be better prepared to compete and more easily recognised for their needs by the industrial world. Therefore, the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) is promoting the strengthening of the MagangHub programme integrated with competency certification to ensure every participant has recognition when entering the workforce. “We want to ensure that the internship programme not only provides work experience but also produces competent workers with official recognition through competency certification issued by the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP),” said Yassierli in a press release received by Kompas.com on Monday (6/4/2026). Yassierli assessed that the business world has a strategic role in preparing ready-to-use workers. Therefore, the active involvement of companies in facilitating the certification of internship participants becomes an added value that will continue to be strengthened by the government. In line with Yassierli, the Director General of Vocational Training and Productivity of Kemnaker, Darmawansyah, said that this step aims to ensure that internship participants obtain competency standards that match industry needs. Thus, the benefits of the internship are not only felt during the programme but also when participants enter the workforce or recruitment process. He added that companies supporting certification will be prioritised in subsequent internship programmes and gain broader access to various employment strategic services and programmes. This initiative is expected to create a mutually reinforcing relationship between the government, the business world, and internship participants, so that the MagangHub programme provides measurable benefits. Its implementation is carried out gradually. In batch I, 14,952 participants are scheduled to complete their internship period on 19 April 2026. As a form of recognition, Kemnaker ensures that every participant receives documents according to their participation duration. Participants who join the programme for six months will receive an internship certificate. Meanwhile, participants who join for more than three months but less than six months will receive a certificate of participation. “This becomes an important provision for internship participants to truly be ready to enter the workforce,” emphasised Darmawansyah. In the future, Kemnaker will expand access to competency certification through strengthened cooperation with Professional Certification Institutions (LSP) and industry partners in various sectors. Through this step, Kemnaker targets that internships not only open learning opportunities in the workplace but also produce competent, adaptive, and highly competitive workers.
