Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, stated that the government is committed to creating and maintaining a harmonious balance between enhancing company performance and protecting the rights and welfare of the workforce.

In a statement in Jakarta on Monday, Minister Yassierli emphasised the importance of synergy between business actors and workers, which he believes is closely linked to the success of an industry and the well-being of its human resources.

“Our government always holds the principle that industries must advance and workers must be in sync with the industry. Industries must progress, and workers must be prosperous. Finding that formula is certainly not easy, but it is what we continue to strive for,” said Yassierli.

Furthermore, he explained that the government bears a constitutional responsibility to ensure that all workers in Indonesia obtain the right to work and a decent living. Consequently, labour regulations are being continuously refined to adapt to economic dynamics while providing maximum protection for the workforce.

Minister Yassierli also encouraged labour unions to transform into more strategic entities. He assessed that the relationship between management and workers must shift from a confrontational pattern to a collaborative one to foster various innovations in the workplace.

“The Collective Labour Agreement (PKB) is not the end goal, but the beginning of a journey to build more transformative industrial relations,” said the Minister.

He cited the example of the state-owned enterprise PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero), which agreed upon its 11th Collective Labour Agreement (PKB) by upholding noble national values, including mutual cooperation (gotong royong), kinship, and deliberation (musyawarah), as a foundation for modern industrial relations.

“The solid collaboration at PT Telkom Indonesia is expected to serve as a benchmark or a real example for other companies in Indonesia in facing the increasingly competitive challenges of the working world,” Yassierli added.

Meanwhile, the President Director of PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero), Dian Siswarini, stated that the 11th PKB of Telkom represents a momentum to restructure governance and compliance.

Dian noted that this is a process to ensure alignment with regulations and to clarify the boundaries of authority for each party—namely management, labour unions, and employees—while encouraging the implementation of a stronger merit system.

“Hopefully, Telkom’s 11th PKB will further strengthen the foundation of harmonious, adaptive, and sustainable industrial relations, in line with the protection of employee rights according to applicable regulations,” she said.
