Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) is preparing appreciation (rewards) and programme priorities for companies that facilitate competency certification for participants in the National Internship Programme.

Minister of Manpower Yassierli, in his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday, emphasised that this policy is part of the government’s efforts to ensure that the internship programme does not merely end as a work experience, but truly serves as a pathway for participants to obtain the competency recognition needed when entering the workforce.

He assessed that strengthening internships integrated with competency certification is an important strategy to improve the quality of Indonesia’s human resources.

“We want to ensure that the internship programme not only provides work experience but also produces competent workers with official recognition through competency certifications issued by the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP),” said Yassierli.

In line with that, the Director General of Vocational Training and Productivity of Kemnaker, Darmawansyah, stated that this step also aims to ensure that internship participants obtain competency standards that truly match industry needs.

Thus, the results of the internship are not only felt during the programme but also provide longer-term benefits for participants when seeking employment or entering recruitment processes.

“We greatly appreciate companies that facilitate certification for internship participants. This is important so that participants have standardised and industry-recognised competency evidence,” said Darmawansyah.
