Ministry of Manpower Expands Job Opportunities for People with Disabilities through Entrepreneurship Training
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) is committed to continuously expanding job opportunities for people with disabilities through entrepreneurship training. Special Staff to the Minister of Manpower, Sukro Muhab, in his statement in Jakarta on Sunday, said the step is taken so that people with disabilities can achieve economic independence while becoming job creators. He stated that job opportunities must continue to be expanded to optimise the existing national potential. Sukro assessed that jobs are not limited to the formal sector such as civil servants or company employees. Job opportunities, he continued, are also open through self-employment, the creative economy, and the utilisation of digital technology. “Job vacancies are everywhere. Not only in companies, but they can also be created oneself. What we need to encourage is how society shifts from job seekers to job creators,” said Sukro. Through the activity, Sukro said that Kemnaker presents two main focuses, namely entrepreneurship training for people with disabilities and strengthening businesses for startup micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM). He also emphasised that physical limitations are not a barrier to creating. “Physical limitations are not an obstacle. What is most important is creativity and the ability to think. We want to ensure that our friends with disabilities have equal access to develop and achieve economic independence,” said Sukro. In addition to training, he said Kemnaker also opens opportunities for advanced business development through the Independent Workforce (TKM) Programme. This programme is intended for participants who have started businesses so they can level up and expand their business scale. “We do not only train, but also assist and open access to financing. The hope is that the businesses started can develop and even absorb new workers,” said Sukro.
