The Ministry of Manpower has once again distributed assistance to 1,000 advanced independent workers (TKM Lanjutan) in Lembang, West Bandung Regency, West Java. Each recipient received business capital amounting to Rp15 million, accompanied by five days of training and three months of business mentoring. The programme is aimed at encouraging the growth of new entrepreneurs while simultaneously creating job opportunities.

Through the Large Centre for Employment Opportunity Expansion, the Ministry of Manpower held the kick-off for the Advanced Independent Worker programme in Lembang, West Bandung Regency, on Friday, 4 September. Entering its sixth year, this programme provides business capital of 15 million rupiah to each of the one thousand entrepreneurs. In addition to the capital, participants also receive five days of training and three months of business assistance.

The Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, stated that the programme is a form of the government’s commitment to opening new job opportunities through the micro and small entrepreneurship sectors. He noted that alongside various downstreaming programmes and initiatives in industry and agriculture for food security, there is a concerted effort to expand the formal labour sector and promote entrepreneurship and employment expansion.

In addition to the advanced TKM programme, the Ministry of Manpower is also distributing assistance to more than 8,000 beginner independent workers (TKM Pemula). Each recipient of the beginner programme receives business capital of five million rupiah. This programme is expected to produce entrepreneurs capable of expanding their businesses and absorbing more labour.

The Ministry of Manpower noted that several alumni from previous programmes have successfully expanded their businesses, with some now employing up to 70 staff members. Overall, the Ministry continues to encourage entrepreneurship to strengthen the MSME sector and create more job opportunities for the community.
