The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Communication at Universitas Padjadjaran (IKA Fikom Unpad) regarding the strengthening of public communication strategies with a data-based approach and the utilisation of digital technology.

Labour Minister Yassierli, in his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday, said that this collaboration aims to make employment policies easier to understand and feel their benefits for the wider community.

He stressed that public communication has now become an important instrument in ensuring that government policies truly have a real impact on society.

“Communication is an important competency for Indonesia’s workforce. Through this collaboration, we want to strengthen communication capabilities throughout the entire labour ecosystem,” said Yassierli.

Therefore, he continued, collaboration with institutions that have expertise in the field of communication is important to strengthen the quality of public information delivery.

Through this collaboration, Kemnaker and IKA Fikom Unpad will focus on developing modern information dissemination strategies, including the preparation of relevant policy narratives in line with the times, as well as the delivery of fast, accurate, and reliable data.

In addition to increasing the effectiveness of public communication, this collaboration is also expected to strengthen government transparency and accountability so that the public, workers, job seekers, business actors, and stakeholders can obtain a comprehensive understanding of employment policies.

“Public communication is the key so that the public not only knows but also feels the benefits of every employment policy presented by the government,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of IKA Fikom Unpad, Hendri Satrio, expressed optimism about the collaboration. He introduced the tagline “Communicative, Productive, and Competent” as a shared spirit in improving the quality of Indonesia’s human resources.

“The goal is for Indonesia to become better. Hopefully, through this collaboration, an increase in workforce competencies, especially in the field of communication, can be realised,” said Hendri.
