Ministry of Manpower and BSI to strengthen labour ecosystem cooperation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) and PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) are preparing to expand their cooperation to strengthen the labour ecosystem, particularly in job market services, competency improvement, apprenticeships, and empowerment of independent workers.
Kemnaker Secretary General Cris Kuntadi said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday that BSI has the potential to become a strategic partner in developing the labour ecosystem because the cooperation is not only related to banking services but can also support various employment programmes.
“We see that BSI has the potential to become a strategic partner in building the labour ecosystem. This cooperation can continue to be developed to provide broader benefits for workers, job seekers, and human resource development,” said Cris.
Kemnaker and BSI previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Provision and Utilisation of Sharia Banking Services and Products as well as Cooperation in Improving the Quality of Workers on 20 March 2025. The memorandum is valid for three years and covers capacity building and competency development of human resources and the utilisation of sharia banking services and products.
The cooperation was then strengthened through a Cooperation Agreement between the Kemnaker Job Market Centre and BSI on Strengthening Job Market Services on 20 April 2026. The cooperation includes the provision of job market information, utilisation of the Karirhub platform for disseminating job vacancies, as well as the implementation of seminars, walk-in interviews, and joint publications.
Cris said the implementation of the cooperation has been underway, including through walk-in interviews at the Job Market Centre and BSI’s participation in the National Apprenticeship Programme.
“Going forward, we want the existing cooperation to be expanded through more concrete programmes that are in line with employment needs,” he said.
He said the expansion of cooperation can be directed at improving the competency of workers through vocational training and soft skill development, including competencies relevant to industry needs such as digital banking, customer service, digital marketing, and the halal industry.
In the job market sector, collaboration can be strengthened through job matching, career days/job fairs, talent pools, and worker placement activities. Meanwhile, in the empowerment sector, Kemnaker and BSI can develop collaboration to support independent workers and the utilisation of BSI’s UMKM Centre.
Cris said collaboration can also be developed with the Polytechnic of Manpower through student internships, campus hiring, as well as knowledge and expertise sharing through seminars, webinars, and guest lectures.
