The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law for the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, during the third quarter of 2026, has harmonised 59 draft local legal products to ensure that regional regulations are of high quality and do not conflict with higher-level regulations.

“Harmonisation must be understood as a substantive effort to maintain the alignment of central and regional policies within a single national legal system,” said the Head of the Division of Legislation and Legal Development, Rahmat Feri Pontoh, in Pangkalpinang on Saturday.

He stated that the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law for Bangka Belitung harmonised 59 draft local legal products, consisting of 13 draft regional regulations (raperda) and 46 draft regional head regulations (ranperkada). The highest number of draft regional regulations came from Pangkalpinang City with 10, while the highest number of draft regional head regulations came from Central Bangka Regency with 33.

Furthermore, the Regional Office also facilitated the preparation of Academic Papers and draft regional regulations initiated by the Provincial DPRD of Bangka Belitung Islands, as well as the Regional Legislative Councils (DPRD) of Belitung, Bangka, South Bangka, and East Belitung Regencies, alongside the Environmental Agencies of Pangkalpinang City and Bangka Regency.

“The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law in Bangka Belitung emphasises the importance of harmonising and synchronising regional legislation with higher-level laws,” he added.

The Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law for Bangka Belitung Islands, Johan Manurung, reaffirmed the office’s commitment to maintaining the quality of legislation within the region.

“The hope is that through the Regional Office’s involvement in the legislative formation process—from the planning and drafting stages to harmonisation—local legal products will truly align with higher regulations, be implementable within society, and provide legal certainty,” he said.
