Ministry of Industry supports SME crafts to expand exports, generating Rp1.83 billion in sales
The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the crafts sector to expand their export markets through the facilitation of international trade fairs, which has driven one supported SME to achieve sales of up to Rp1.83 billion.
During a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said that through the Directorate General of Small, Medium, and Miscellaneous Industries (IKMA), his ministry continues to enhance the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprise players in the crafts and home décor sectors by opening access to international markets.
“Access to international trade fairs represents a major opportunity and a platform for SMEs and Indonesia to demonstrate to the global market that their products are on par with and even capable of competing with other foreign products,” said the Minister.
The Minister added that SME participation in international trade fairs not only opens opportunities for meetings with buyers but also generates sustainable business cooperation.
One success story of an SME that has achieved export sales through the international trade fair facilitation conducted by the Directorate General of IKMA is PT Indo Risakti from Bantul, Yogyakarta. This SME, producing crafts and home décor items, has successfully penetrated export markets to various countries.
Reni Yanita, Director General of IKMA at the Ministry of Industry, stated that on 10 March 2026, her directorate attended the export shipment ceremony for PT Indo Risakti’s products to the United States, South Korea, France, and the United Kingdom, with a total value of USD 108,000 or approximately Rp1.83 billion from January to April 2026.
“This proves that Indonesian craft products are truly of high quality and have strong competitiveness in the global market, so buyers are confident in placing repeat orders and this also influences the trust of other potential buyers,” said the Director General.
Previously, the Directorate General of IKMA facilitated 10 SMEs in the crafts and home décor sector to promote their products to international buyers at the Ambiente Trade Fair in Frankfurt, Germany in 2025.
PT Indo Risakti was one of the participants facilitated at this event and successfully recorded positive sales following the fair.
“This means that the SMEs that were facilitated truly made the best use of the trade fair opportunity and met various export criteria amid fierce global market competition,” said Reni.
