Ministry of Industry stresses standardisation vital for boosting industrial competitiveness
JAKARTA (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) has emphasised that standardisation is a crucial instrument for boosting the competitiveness of national industrial products and strengthening market confidence in domestic goods. During a confirmed statement in Jakarta on Tuesday, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated that 2026 is a pivotal moment for accelerating national industrialisation and Indonesia’s economic transformation. Therefore, all Kemenperin personnel are urged to act more swiftly, measurably, and with a focus on tangible results to strengthen the national industrial structure. “2026 is the year to resolve issues, finalise targets, and prove the Ministry of Industry’s ability to serve as the main driver of national economic transformation,” the minister stressed. He further noted that efforts to strengthen standardisation are being accelerated through the implementation of Indonesian National Standards (SNI) across various industrial sectors. One concrete step is being taken by the Banda Aceh Industrial Standards and Services Centre (BSPJI), which is committed to accelerating the update of mandatory SNI for mineral water products by 2026. The minister also stressed that consistent SNI implementation ensures quality assurance and strengthens the position of national products in both domestic and international markets. In line with these directives, Head of the Industrial Standards and Services Policy Agency (BSKJI) Emmy Suryandari stated that BSKJI’s 2026 priorities include SNI monitoring, green industry acceleration, and Industry 4.0 transformation. These steps form part of a strategy to strengthen a competitive and sustainable national industrial ecosystem. Meanwhile, BSPJI Banda Aceh Head Agung Budi Lestari said his office is ready to support the acceleration of industrial certification and standardisation services, particularly updating the mandatory mineral water SNI from the 2015 to 2023 version for 56 businesses by 2026. “This commitment reflects BSPJI Banda Aceh’s support for strengthening the quality of national industrial products. We are also working to expedite certification services in line with the Minimum Service Standards (SPM) as mandated by Minister of Industry Instruction No. 2 of 2026,” he added. He added that BSPJI Banda Aceh will continue to prioritise professionalism and accountability in delivering industrial services. With competent human resources and adequate infrastructure, BSPJI Banda Aceh is confident it can assist industries, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs), in meeting national quality standards and enhancing product competitiveness. Through these steps, BSPJI Banda Aceh is expected to help accelerate industrial growth in Aceh and surrounding regions. Furthermore, the accelerated updating of mandatory SNI is expected to further strengthen the implementation of national industrial standardisation as the foundation for building resilient, sustainable, and highly competitive industries.
