Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Industry is continuing to strengthen national industrial competitiveness through mentoring programmes for 24 small and medium enterprise (SME) operators in the unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) technology sector.

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, in a statement in Jakarta on Monday, said the effort was aimed at driving technological transformation whilst expanding drone utilisation across various industrial sectors.

“The use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles through drones has now become an extremely important service, used by industries in agriculture, plantations, forestry, mining, power generation, and various other sectors that can improve production efficiency and field monitoring. This advanced technology can produce accurate mapping,” the Minister said.

He explained that drones have been widely used for mapping surveys that provide spatial information, ranging from regional profiles and demographic conditions to area potential assessments.

The Minister stated that the mentoring is carried out through the Directorate General of Small, Medium and Miscellaneous Industries (IKMA), which consistently provides guidance to enhance competitiveness and expand market reach for drone technology.

Director General of IKMA, Reni Yanita, said various development programmes had been provided, including Startup for Industry (Tech Link – Investment Summit and mentoring) in 2023–2024, domestic content certification (TKDN) mentoring in 2024, and SNI ISO 9001 facilitation in 2024.

Additionally, drone SMEs have been facilitated to participate in various international exhibitions and forums, such as Manufacturing Indonesia Series 2024, TechPlanter with Japan’s Leave a Nest in 2024, Gebyar IKMA 2024, and the China-BRICS Science and Innovation Incubation Park 2025.

“A total of 24 small and medium industries operating in drone technology services are being continuously mentored, both in terms of enhancing internal company capacity and opening market access and product development,” she said.

A number of SMEs mentored by the Ministry of Industry have shown significant progress. PT Inovasi Solusi Transportasi Indonesia, for example, produces drones under the Frogs Indonesia brand, ranging from passenger drones, spray drones, surveillance drones, cargo drones, to surveillance mapper drones that have been deployed across more than 21 provinces and 61 regencies and cities.

Furthermore, PT Karya Solusi Angkasa has developed drones for the agricultural sector using carbon composite materials and emergency safety features.

PT Aerotek Global Inovasi produces Beehive drones capable of collecting accurate analytical data, and used for palm oil pollination and firefighting operations.

PT Inderaja Teknik Indonesia focuses on remote sensing technology for aerial, underwater and underground mapping, whilst CV AMX UAV Technologies produces drones for videography, regional mapping and agricultural management.
