The Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Kemenimipas) welcomed Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day by holding a fun walk and cleaning the heroes’ cemetery (TMP) in Tangerang City, Banten, on Sunday.

“The entire series of activities such as the fun walk, cleaning the heroes’ cemetery, distribution of social assistance, passport services, and blood donation are in the context of welcoming the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Sunday.

Agus said the event to welcome Indonesia’s Independence Day was in accordance with the directives of President Prabowo Subianto.

Therefore, he expressed hope that the ministry’s activities could build shared awareness of national values while strengthening social solidarity.

“Through this step, we hope to awaken collective awareness of the noble values of the nation, strengthen social solidarity, and encourage real contributions to the nation’s progress,” he said.

In addition, he reminded that the nation’s current challenge is no longer the struggle of taking up arms to seize and defend independence, but rather the struggle to improve the quality of human resources, strengthen unity, safeguard sovereignty, build an independent economy, and bequeath a more advanced Indonesia to future generations.
