Ministry of Human Rights Staff Obtain Decrees to Practise as Non-Judge Mediators

A number of employees at the Ministry of Human Rights (HAM) have obtained Decrees (SK) as non-judge mediators from district courts after completing mediator training and certification. Through this training and certification, Ministry of Human Rights employees now have the authority to practise as mediators in court dispute resolution processes. “We can take pride because the results of the mediator training we conducted for Ministry of Human Rights employees have now received official recognition from the courts and they can practise as non-judge mediators,” said Aditya Sarsito Sukarsono, Head of the Human Rights Human Resource Development Centre (Pusbang SDM) of the Ministry of Human Rights, in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. Aditya stated that this achievement demonstrates the tangible results of the competency development programme his institution has been implementing. According to him, the achievement proves that the education and training provided not only produce competency certificates but also open opportunities for employees to contribute directly to dispute resolution through mediation mechanisms. One employee who has received a non-judge mediator decree is Anis Ratna Ningsih, who obtained an appointment as a non-judge mediator at the Pangkal Pinang District Court, Bangka Belitung Islands Province. Aditya assessed that this success reflects the increased capacity of Ministry of Human Rights officials in the field of peaceful, effective, and just conflict and dispute resolution. He said that mediation competency is closely linked to efforts to respect, protect, fulfil, enforce, and advance human rights because it prioritises dialogue and constructive problem-solving. Beyond being an individual achievement, he noted, the employees’ success in obtaining non-judge mediator decrees also demonstrates the effectiveness of the competency development programme implemented by the Human Rights Human Resource Development Centre. “We remain committed to developing human rights resources in Indonesia across all lines and fields of life so that the government’s goals under President Prabowo Subianto regarding human rights-based development can truly be realised,” he said.
