Ministry of Human Rights Selects Human Rights Activators in 20 Provinces
The Ministry of Human Rights is conducting simultaneous interview selections for prospective Human Rights Activators in 20 provinces as part of an effort to prepare human resources who will assist in implementing the Human Rights-Aware Village programme in various regions. Acting Director General of Human Rights Instruments Sofia Alatas, while opening the selection virtually on Tuesday (21/7), stated that the selection process is aimed at choosing candidates who possess an understanding of human rights issues and are capable of contributing to the fulfilment of community rights at the village level. “I hope the Human Rights Activator selection participants can demonstrate their abilities and knowledge of human rights to the fullest, particularly in understanding human rights issues that arise in their respective environments or villages,” she said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. According to Sofia, participants who pass will later be placed in 200 Human Rights-Aware Villages across Indonesia to support the strengthening of the fulfilment of basic community rights, such as the rights to health, education, the economy, and other priority rights. She explained that the Ministry of Human Rights selects Human Rights Activators from their respective domicile areas so that they better understand the social conditions of the community and can build effective communication in programme implementation. “That is why the Ministry of Human Rights selects Human Rights Activators from the same domicile, so that you can communicate well with the community in your respective places of residence in order to provide benefits for the village,” she said. The interview selection is scheduled to take place over three days, from 21 to 23 July 2026. After the process is complete, the Ministry of Human Rights will announce the successful participants on 27 July 2026. Participants who are declared to have passed will then take part in contract signing, training, and inauguration on 28-31 July 2026 before carrying out their duties as Human Rights Activators in their respective placement areas.
