Ministry of Housing Ensures Construction of Tribal Chiefs' Homes in Papua Pegunungan

Wamena (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) has assured the construction of homes for tribal chiefs and indigenous Papuans (OAP) in Papua Pegunungan. Director General of Governance and Risk Control at the Ministry of PKP, Aziz Andriansyah, stated in a written release in Wamena on Wednesday that the 2,200-unit housing programme for tribal chiefs and the people of Papua Pegunungan is a Presidential Instruction (Inpres) from Prabowo Subianto. “Our presence here is to explain the mechanism of the 2,200-home programme, which is a presidential instruction to the Governor of Papua Pegunungan to be provided or built for the community and tribal chiefs in eight districts,” he said. According to him, the 2,200-home programme is a special project directly given by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to Papua Pegunungan. He explained that there are several regular projects at the Ministry of PKP, including the construction of flats for low-income communities, special housing for border areas, post-disaster aid housing, self-help stimulus housing aid, house repairs and renovations, and aid for public infrastructure such as roads and drainage. “These regular projects are general and routine activities carried out by the Ministry of PKP Indonesia,” he said. He added that the 2,200-home programme is a special programme that must be implemented with special activities, special regulations, and special considerations in various aspects. “Regular projects are regulated in existing regulations, such as Ministerial Regulation on Housing Number 10 related to general housing assistance and the provision of special housing. Meanwhile, the special programme, which is a presidential instruction, requires us to prepare special rules, special regulations, special procedures, special criteria, and to consider various technical and non-technical aspects,” he stated. He hopes that the 2,200-home programme can run smoothly in the eight districts of Papua Pegunungan without causing any problems. The Provincial Government of Papua Pegunungan receives assistance of 2,200 housing units from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. Of these, 2,000 homes are type-45, while 200 homes are type-90.
