Bandung (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Housing and Settlements (PKP) is developing housing with a transit-oriented development (TOD) concept by utilising unused land owned by PT Kereta Api Indonesia in the Laswi and Kiaracondong areas of Bandung. PKP Minister Maruarar Sirait stated that the two locations have been directly inspected and deemed strategic for vertical residential development that is integrated. “Yesterday we surveyed the sites in Tanah Abang—there are three—and one more in Kota Tua. Then today we came to Bandung in Kiaracondong and Laswi,” said Maruarar in Bandung on Monday. She explained that this TOD development is intended for low-income communities (MBR) while serving as a pilot project for similar developments in other regions. Maruarar added that her side has coordinated with the Bandung City Government and the West Java Provincial Government to prepare plans and mapping for the construction. “On the 25th of this month, we will meet to see what the basic concept looks like,” she said. Regarding financing, she noted that the government will utilise corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds from the private sector and foundations. Meanwhile, PT KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin stated that his company is still conducting an inventory of assets to be utilised. He mentioned that the TOD area will be developed as an integrated zone encompassing housing, public facilities, and business areas. “We’re calculating the units. We’re optimising it first as mentioned by the Minister, the concept is TOD,” he said.
