Ministry of Housing and Settlements Aims to Propose 2 Million House Renovation Units by 2027
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Housing and Settlements (PKP) is striving to propose the Housing Self-Help Stimulant Assistance Programme (BSPS), commonly known as ‘Bedah Rumah’ (House Renovation), for up to 2 million units by next year.
“For the 2027 House Renovation programme, currently, only 311,000 units have been allocated. However, we are making efforts to propose up to 2 million housing units,” stated Musrifah, Secretary of the Directorate General of Settlements at the Ministry of PKP, during a press conference in Jakarta on Friday.
She added that this initiative is based on the roadmap the Ministry of PKP must pursue in accordance with the targets of the 2025-2029 Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJM).
According to the Regulation of the Minister of Housing and Settlements for the year 2026 regarding House Renovation, the programme provides stimulant assistance to individuals categorised as Low-Income Communities. The goal is to encourage community self-reliance through awareness, will, ability, and independence, utilising the spirit of mutual cooperation (gotong royong) to improve house quality, renovate, or construct new homes to ensure decent living conditions.
The House Renovation programme is carried out through planning, implementation, and reporting stages. The allocation of these programmes, covering national, provincial, and regency/city levels, is determined by the Minister.
Allocations for the programme can cover two types of activities: quality improvement/renovation and/or new construction.
Funding may be allocated for houses affected by government programmes, those impacted by disasters, houses designated by Presidential assignment, and/or those determined based on Ministerial direction or policy.
For information, the Ministry of Housing and Settlements (PKP) currently targets 315,000 House Renovation units for 2027.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of PKP, Didyk Choiroel, stated that the Ministry’s budget ceiling for 2027 is set at IDR 11.77 trillion. This is based on priority outputs, including a management support programme (Dukman) of IDR 910 billion, with the PKP programme reaching IDR 10.85 trillion.
From the IDR 10.85 trillion PKP programme budget, Didyk noted that the budget specifically for House Renovation or the Housing Self-Help Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) amounts to IDR 8.67 trillion.
