The Ministry of Housing and Settlement (PKP) is digitising the Self-Help Housing Assistance (BSPS) programme.

“We have already started preparing the BSPS digitalisation. It’s already underway. In the future, BSPS will be fully digitalised. We’ve already prepared this from now,” said Fitrah Nur, Director General of Settlement Areas at the Ministry of Housing and Settlement, in Jakarta on Thursday.

He stated that BSPS applications are now digital, with no more paper-based correspondence, and verification results are already in digital form with documents integrated into the system.

“Currently, we have completed but not yet publicised the process where Field Facilitators (TFL) will use their own devices. When they photograph the house conditions and documents, it will be uploaded directly into the system. Monitoring via photos will show progress updates in real time,” he added.

As for information, Minister PKP Maruarar Sirait explained that in 2026, the BSPS programme will be the ministry’s main strategic initiative, accounting for approximately 83% of the ministry’s total budget to construct and improve 400,000 housing units for communities.

He also stated that the government has proposed increasing the BSPS target to two million units next year as part of efforts to accelerate the provision of decent housing for Indonesians.

Besides BSPS, the Ministry of Housing and Settlement outlined several other strategic issues for the 2026 budget implementation, including permanent housing construction in post-disaster areas in Sumatra, building 2,200 units in the Papua Highlands, a request for additional funding for 50,000 BSPS units, drafting a Housing Bill, and strengthening integration and transparency in housing programme management.
