The Ministry of Housing and Residential Areas (PKP) is accelerating the implementation of the 2026 Home Renovation Programme, targeting 400,000 housing units to enhance community welfare.

Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait (Ara) stated that the performance of the Home Renovation programme in several regions has shown positive progress. However, certain areas still need to improve their performance to ensure the programme’s implementation is more optimal.

“We are pleased that some regions, such as Gorontalo, Bangka Belitung, and Bali, are performing very well. There are also some regions where performance is lacking, and this must be improved,” Ara said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.

The Ministry of PKP is proactively identifying and resolving various obstacles in the field. According to ministry data, the progress of the Home Renocation programme shows that 336,176 units have undergone factual verification, with 188,356 units having been recommended. Subsequently, the preparation of Budget Plans (RAB) is being conducted for the recommended units.

Meanwhile, physical work progress shows that 85,649 units are at the 0–30 per cent stage, 33,310 units are between 30 and less than 100 per cent, and 23,741 units have reached 100 per cent completion.

Ara stated that the acceleration of the home renovation programme must be carried out by addressing various field-level constraints. If there is a need for additional human resources or if regulations are slowing down the process, the government will make adjustments while ensuring all processes comply with established regulations.

“If additional human resources are needed, we will prepare them; if there are lengthy regulations that slow us down, we will reduce them. However, everything must be consulted with the BPK, BPKP, law enforcement, the Police, the Prosecutor’s Office, and the KPK to ensure everything is correct, proper, and meets the objectives. The methods used must also be appropriate,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of PKP, Didyk Choirul, stated that the Home Renovation programme has become one of the Ministry’s primary focus areas for acceleration in the final months of 2026. Various acceleration, facilitation, and relaxation measures have been implemented to optimise programme execution.

“This is our focus for acceleration. We have implemented steps for acceleration, ease, and relaxation, which have been accelerated in the last 3.5 months of 2026. We are optimistic that with this strategy, we can optimally achieve the absorption of 400,000 home renovations or the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS),” said Didyk.

He added that, overall, the budget realisation of the Ministry of PKP has reached approximately 39 per cent. Acceleration continues for various programmes and activities, including the construction of permanent housing for communities affected by disasters in the Sumatra region.
