Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Directorate General for Regional Administration Development of the Ministry of Home Affairs continues to strengthen the role of the Community Protection Unit or Satlinmas in supporting public tranquillity and order as well as community protection.

One form of such efforts is the organisation of the first Linmas Jamboree, themed Collaboration to Safeguard the Nation, held at Jakabaring Sport City on 28–29 April 2026.

Director General for Regional Administration Development of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Safrizal Zakaria Ali, in Jakarta on Wednesday, stated that this jamboree serves as a momentum to strengthen the capacity and solidarity of Satlinmas across Indonesia.

“The role of Satlinmas may seem small, but do not underestimate it; small but mighty like a small chilli. They make real contributions to maintaining community tranquillity and order,” said Safrizal in his statement.

Safrizal also affirmed that the existence of Satlinmas plays an important role as the frontline guard in maintaining environmental stability at the village and sub-district levels.

In the event, the striking of the kentongan was raised as a symbol of community voluntarism. This symbol reflects the spirit of gotong royong among residents in independently and responsively safeguarding the environment against various potential disturbances.

“Even though they come from different districts and provinces, we can exchange experiences, knowledge, or information. Thus, we can continuously develop Linmas capabilities throughout Indonesia,” he said.

Linmas is a community-based service and participation organisation that has a strategic role in various aspects of social life.

As a community service organisation, Linmas must consistently be present to provide real contributions and serve as the frontline in maintaining tranquillity and order.

Safrizal also emphasised the importance of enhancing the capacity of Linmas apparatus, particularly in facing emergency situations such as fires and disasters.

“They must be able to direct the community during evacuations, provide first aid, prevent fire potentials, and assist in minor-scale fire extinguishing. In addition, Satlinmas is also involved in community social activities, including securing general elections, and plays a role in defence readiness in emergency conditions and certain situations,” said Safrizal.

He is committed to continuously strengthening and improving the development of the 1.25 million Satlinmas personnel throughout Indonesia.

“We continue to pray, we do not stand still, and we will keep making improvements here and there,” added Safrizal.

With the spirit of this first Linmas Jamboree, the Directorate General for Regional Administration hopes to generate new energy in strengthening Satlinmas as an important pillar in the community-based security system.

“We ignite empowered Satlinmas, safeguarding Indonesia,” he concluded.
