Ministry of Home Affairs: Mojokerto Becomes the Most Innovative Region for Five Consecutive Years
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MOJOKERTO — The Head of the Domestic Policy Strategy Agency (BSKDN) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), Yusharto Huntoyungo, praised the commitment of Mojokerto City Government (Pemkot Mojokerto) to sustaining local innovation, successfully maintaining the designation as a highly innovative region consistently for five consecutive years.
This was stated by Yusharto when presenting material at the Mojokerto City Government’s event on Strengthening Policy Strategy and Regional Innovation Synergy in the Pendopo Sabha Kridatama on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.
In his presentation, Yusharto stressed that regional innovation is a mandate of Law Number 23 of 2014 on Regional Government, which provides space for local governments to pursue innovation in governance to improve public service delivery and regional development.
“I would like to remind again of the legal basis for implementing this activity; we work based on Law 23 of 2014, especially where local governments carry out regional innovation and report to the central government,” Yusharto said.
He explained that the regional innovation assessment conducted by the Ministry is not only aimed at high-performing regions, but also to map the relative position of all regions in Indonesia in the development of innovation.
Thus, the government can see the strengths of each region while also analysing nationwide innovation trends.
“Innovation assessment is not only carried out in high-performing regions but across all regions, so we can know the relative position between one region and another, and understand the strengths of each region,” he said.
Yusharto revealed that the government continues to push stronger regional innovation through awards and fiscal incentives. “In 2026 we are briefing on the distribution of fiscal incentive budget, among other things the determining factor is the most innovative regions,” he said.
