Ministry of Home Affairs Inspectorate General Probes Official Appointments in Bima City Government

The Ministry of Home Affairs has deployed a Government Internal Supervisory Apparatus team from the Inspectorate General to examine the process of appointing several officials within the Bima City Government, West Nusa Tenggara. The investigation follows reports alleging that some of the appointed officials have family ties to the Mayor of Bima.

Hanna Permata, a representative of the APIP team from the Inspectorate General, stated that the team has been in Bima City since 5 July 2026 to conduct a preliminary examination. At this stage, the team is collecting documents and requesting statements from various parties involved in the appointment process.

According to Hanna, the examination is focused on ensuring that every stage of the appointment process complied with the relevant laws and regulations. The team is also reviewing aspects of personnel administration, job requirements, technical considerations, and the application of the merit system principle in civil service management.

She emphasised that the process is still in its early stages, so no conclusions can yet be drawn regarding any potential violations. All information obtained will be analysed comprehensively before the team compiles its findings. The Ministry of Home Affairs has assured that the examination will be conducted objectively, professionally, and accountably, with the results serving as the basis for determining further steps in accordance with applicable regulations.
