Ministry of Home Affairs holds coordination meeting to align National Priority Programs

The Directorate of Regional Legal Products within the Directorate-General of Regional Autonomy at the Ministry of Home Affairs will hold a Coordination Meeting on Regional Legal Products to oversee the implementation of National Priority Programs in the regions. Director-General Cheka Virgowansyah stated on Monday in Jakarta that the quality of Regional Regulations (Perda), Regional Head Regulations (Perkada), and other regional legal products is a crucial part of the success of national legal reform under Astacita. He added that legal reform is not only a central government agenda but must also reach the regions. ‘In practice, many policies directly affecting the public are implemented through regional legal products,’ Cheka said. The event, themed ‘Evaluation of Compliance of Regional Legal Products in Alignment with National Priority Programs’, will take place in Palu, Central Sulawesi, on Tuesday 2 June. The coordination meeting is a collaboration between the Directorate of Regional Legal Products, Central Sulawesi Provincial Government, and Palu City Government, symbolising synergy between central and regional governments to support National Priority Programs. Through this event, the Ministry of Home Affairs aims to foster mutual understanding and commitment among central, provincial, and local governments to use regional legal compliance evaluations as a strategic tool for national legal reform. Additionally, it aims to strengthen regional autonomy and achieve orderly, accountable, responsive, and public-service-oriented regional governance. The forum will be opened by Director-General Cheka Virgowansyah and Central Sulawesi Governor Anwar Hafid.
