Ministry of Home Affairs Hands Over Population Documents to Victims' Families in Train Accident

Bekasi Regency (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Home Affairs has handed over population administration documents to the families of victims from the KRL Commuter Line accident with the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek at Bekasi Timur Station, who hail from Bekasi Regency, West Java.

The Director General of Population and Civil Registration of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Teguh Setyabudi, stated that the handover of these documents serves as proof that the state is present to ensure services to the public continue to run, even in difficult conditions.

“The documents we are handing over consist of new family cards as well as electronic ID cards for those who are married. These documents are important as a basis for accessing various public services,” he said in Cikarang on Wednesday.

Teguh also expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased victims over the incident, while assuring that fast and accurate population administration services are part of the commitment to public services from birth onwards.

Teguh also appreciated the concern of the Bekasi Regency Government in the form of assistance to the victims’ families. Collaboration between the central and regional governments is very important to ensure that the public receives optimal protection and public services.

“We appreciate the quick and caring steps taken by the Bekasi Regency Government towards the victims’ families. May this assistance slightly alleviate the burden of grief they are feeling,” he said.

Bekasi Acting Regent Asep Surya Atmaja expressed deep condolences over the train accident that befell several residents, especially since the majority of the victims are from Bekasi Regency.

“May the deceased victims receive the best place beside Allah SWT, and may the bereaved families be granted patience and strength,” he said.

He stated that the handover of population documents and assistance is part of the local government’s efforts to ensure that public services continue to run optimally, especially for those affected by the disaster.

“In conditions like this, we want to ensure that all administrative needs of the victims’ families can be completed quickly and without obstacles. Services must continue to run, even in difficult situations,” he said.

The Bekasi Regency Government, together with the Bekasi Regency National Zakat Agency, distributed cash assistance of Rp10 million to the victims’ families as a form of care and empathy.

In addition, for victims who were the family breadwinners, the local government provides ongoing support, including facilitation of education for the left-behind family members.

Asep also appreciated the quick actions of the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration of the Ministry of Home Affairs along with the Bekasi Regency Population and Civil Registration Office in processing and issuing population documents for the victims and their families.

“In situations like this, the speed and accuracy of services are very important. This is part of humane public services, where the state must be present amid the grieving community,” he said.

The Bekasi Regency Government emphasised that it will continue to strengthen synergy with the central government and all stakeholders in improving the quality of population administration services, including in facing emergencies or disasters.

It is recorded that 12 deceased victims in the train accident at Bekasi Timur Station last week were residents of Bekasi Regency. Ten victims are identified from that region, while two other victims are from outside the area.

Three deceased victims who were identified earliest are Nurlaela from Cikarang Timur, Adelia Rifani from Cibitung, and Ristuti Kustirahayu from Sukatani.

Then, based on data from the National Police’s Disaster Victim Identification Team (DVI), seven other deceased victims are also from Bekasi Regency, namely Anita Sari (31) from Cikarang Barat, Faridha Utami (50) from Cibitung, and Fika Aknia Pratiwi (23) from Cikarang Barat.

Furthermore, Ida Nuraida (48) from Cibitung Subdistrict, Gita Septia Wardani (20) from Cibitung, Rinjani Novitasari (25) from Tambun Selatan, and Nur Ainia Eka Rahmadhynna (32) from Tambun Selatan Subdistrict.
