Ministry of Higher Education Strengthens Accountability in Higher Education Governance
Jakarta — The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) has held a performance contract signing ceremony with Regional Higher Education Service Institutions (LLDikti) for regions I–XVII as an effort to strengthen accountable, transparent higher education governance oriented towards performance achievement.
The performance contract signing was led by the Acting Secretary-General of Kemdiktisaintek, Badri Munir Sukoco, together with the heads of LLDikti from all regions across Indonesia in Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March.
“Through this signing, Kemdiktisaintek affirms our shared commitment to align programme implementation, strengthen institutional development, and oversee the provision of higher education in the regions,” said Badri in a statement issued in Jakarta on Thursday.
Badri emphasised the critical role of LLDikti as the ministry’s extension in ensuring quality higher education delivery, particularly for private universities (PTS) across various regions.
The Acting Secretary-General stressed that Indonesia’s higher education sector still demonstrates diverse capacity and quality levels across institutions and regions.
Therefore, strengthening governance, institutional development, and improving human resource quality represent important steps in reinforcing higher education’s contribution to national development.
Beyond improving education quality, Kemdiktisaintek places considerable emphasis on strengthening the research and innovation ecosystem in universities.
As part of efforts to improve higher education quality and strengthen research, Kemdiktisaintek continues to promote enhanced academic qualifications for lecturers, including through doctoral education programme development.
“These efforts are expected to strengthen universities’ research capacity whilst improving learning quality and scientific publication standards,” said Badri Munir Sukoco.
