Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Strengthens Global Partnerships for Talent Acceleration

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology continues to strengthen international cooperation in higher education, research, and human resource development as part of the strategy to accelerate the transformation of a knowledge- and technology-based economy.

This is demonstrated in an audience between Minister of Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto and the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the United States Ambassador, Peter M. Haymond. Through targeted global collaboration, Brian stated that Indonesia is affirming its commitment to enhancing national competitiveness while addressing future industry needs.

“The main focus of the cooperation is directed towards improving the quality of human resources through education and research programmes that meet international standards,” he said in Jakarta on Saturday.

He explained that this initiative includes the development of joint degree programmes (dual degree) as well as cross-country collaborative research, which is expected to produce high-impact innovations relevant to national development needs.

In supporting access to quality education, his side is also optimising various education financing schemes, including through LPDP. This scheme provides broader opportunities for Indonesia’s best talents to pursue education at world-class universities while strengthening global academic networks.

“We are targeting the development of around 10 semiconductor products as well as the need for up to 15,000 engineers. For that, cooperation with universities is key,” said Brian.

In the health sector, the government is also promoting the development of new medical universities to increase the capacity of national medical education.

This initiative is expected to meet the growing need for health workers while expanding access to medical education in various regions of Indonesia.

In addition to strengthening higher education, he said, cooperation also includes support for educational facilities, including the utilisation of learning technology for schools. This effort aims to accelerate the equalisation of education quality and support an adaptive learning ecosystem to technological developments.

“This synergy is expected to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a strategic player in the global industrial ecosystem that is sustainable and innovation-based,” he stated.
