Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) revealed that nearly 99% of detected cheating cases in the National Selection Based on Test (SNBT) targeted Medical Programmes.

Minister Brian Yuliarto, during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday, stated: ‘The vast majority, almost all 99%, are Medical Programmes.’ He emphasised the ministry’s serious attention and meticulous identification to prevent recurrence, adding that there would be zero tolerance for any form of cheating in the national selection process as it disadvantages other candidates and undermines national character development.

‘In the SNBT national selection process, when some pass, others are excluded. Fundamentally, this contradicts education development and national character building. Therefore, we will not tolerate any cheating, however minor,’ Minister Brian stressed.

‘Last year’s data shows 99.9% of cheating cases involved Medical Programmes. Indeed, the majority—almost 100%—of those using proxies and cheating targeted Medical Programmes,’ he added.

To prevent proxy use in the 2026 SNBT, measures include scheduling applicants for Medical and Dental Programmes on the first two days of exams (21-22 April). This strategic scheduling is designed as an unexpected mitigation measure to minimise cheating opportunities.

‘This year during UTBK implementation, applicants for Medical and Dental Programmes are placed on the first two days,’ said Eduart Wolok.
