Ministry of Higher Education on New Garuda School Buildings: Will Definitely Be Completed
Director of Science and Technology at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Ahmad Najib Burhani, has affirmed that construction of the Garuda Schools will definitely be completed by June 2026. “Don’t think it won’t be finished. There is already a contract for completion,” he said at a press conference at the Ministry in South Jakarta on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.
However, Najib did not specify what percentage of construction has been completed. He merely stated that progress on the new Garuda Schools is in line with the planned schedule. “Today, for instance, it was updated — we can actually see the buildings,” Najib said.
He explained that the Garuda School construction process is also being monitored regularly using CCTV cameras. “We can watch the progress at floors 10, 13 and 17 — how construction is progressing at each point,” he said.
Najib conveyed that all workers involved in building the Garuda Schools have gone through clear construction calculations. He said there is already a timeline detailing which components must be completed each month.
He urged the public not to worry about the ongoing construction progress. “Perhaps there will be questions about what happens during the holiday period when workers go home. That has already been factored into the construction timeline. It has been anticipated,” he said.
Physical construction of the schools is targeted for completion so they can be used immediately for the new academic year in the middle of this year. Each of the four schools will accommodate 160 students, meaning a total of 640 students will form the inaugural cohort of the Garuda Schools.
