The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) and the Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) are strengthening their synergy to ensure the success of the government’s priority public health programmes. The cooperation focuses on the implementation of the Free Health Check-up (Cek Kesehatan Gratis/CKG) programme and the acceleration of tuberculosis (TBC) elimination.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between PBNU Chairman KH Yahya Cholil Staquf and Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin at the Ministry of Health office in Kuningan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (21/7/2026).

In addition to discussing the implementation of CKG and the handling of TBC, both parties also highlighted the health of students and Islamic boarding school (pesantren) pupils, the strengthening of community-based health services, and the importance of implementing Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) standards to improve the environmental quality of pesantren while preventing the spread of disease.

Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin emphasised that the CKG programme and the elimination of infectious diseases such as TBC are government priority programmes. According to him, the success of these programmes requires the support of mass organisations with extensive networks reaching the grassroots level. “It is very important to be able to work together with NU as the largest mass organisation in Indonesia,” Budi said in a press statement on Thursday (23/7/2026).
