Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) states that in week 11 of 2026, there were 177 suspected cases and 121 measles cases, indicating a decline of around 95 percent from the first week, which recorded 2,740 suspected cases and 2,268 cases.

“After week 3, the weekly trend has decreased gradually until week 11, where the number of suspected cases dropped to 177, and measles cases to 121, signifying a decline of around 94-95 percent from the peak in week 1,” said the Head of the Bureau of Communication and Public Information of Kemenkes, Aji Muhawarman, in Jakarta on Thursday.

Previously, the Ministry of Health stated that up to week 9 of 2026, there were 8,716 measles cases with 10,826 suspected cases, and the government has intensified immunisation in various regions as a follow-up to prevention efforts.

The Acting Director General of Disease Prevention and Control of Kemenkes, Andi Saguni, confirmed in Jakarta on Saturday (14/3) that in week 9, there was an addition of around 500 cases. Up to week 8 of 2026, there were 10,453 suspected measles cases with 8,372 cases and 6 deaths, and in week 7, there were 8,224 suspected measles cases, 572 confirmed cases, and 4 deaths.

Previously, Andi said in Jakarta on Friday (13/3) that the decrease in suspected cases and additions in week 9 was due to massive immunisation and education on clean and healthy living habits.

“The weekly trend of measles cases and laboratory confirmations in 11 provinces affected by the 2026 outbreak mostly shows a decline in cases, except for NTB Province (Bima Regency and Bima City), which still shows high cases,” he said.

The 10 regencies and cities with the highest number of suspected cases and cases in 2026 include South Tangerang, Bima, Tangerang, Depok, Central Jakarta, Palembang, and Padang.

Then, he said, data as of 12 March 2026 shows that 22 regencies and cities experiencing measles outbreaks have conducted Outbreak Response Immunisation (ORI) MR for the target age of 9-59 months.

The highest coverage is in Pamekasan, at 47.93 percent, followed by Jember at 38.64 percent and Bima at 22.73 percent.

The coverage includes West Jakarta at 56.4 percent, Central Jakarta at 80.4 percent, Depok at 17.3 percent, South Tangerang at 8.4 percent, and Palu at 5.6 percent.

“51 Health Quarantine Sector Units support the implementation of MR immunisation services in coordination with local Health Offices,” said Andi.

The Minister of Health (Menkes), Budi Gunadi Sadikin, stated that his side targets achieving 95 percent measles immunisation coverage within 1-2 weeks before Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/Lebaran 2026.

“Well, today it has been running for one week. I see the penetration results are good. I don’t have the exact figures yet. But indeed, we are chasing this if possible before Lebaran,” said Menkes Budi Gunadi Sadikin in Jakarta on Thursday (12/3).
