Ministry of Hajj Urges Pilgrims to Conserve Energy Ahead of Peak Hajj Rituals
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) of the Republic of Indonesia has urged all Indonesian Hajj pilgrims to begin conserving their energy and focus on preparing themselves for the peak phase of the Hajj pilgrimage in 1447 H/2026 AD.
Kemenhaj spokesperson Maria Assegaff stated that the peak of Hajj requires physical, mental, and spiritual readiness. Therefore, pilgrims are requested not to overexert themselves with activities outside the hotel, especially during the daytime, given that temperatures in Mecca and Medina range from 38 to 42 degrees Celsius.
“Pilgrims need to prioritise their health. Conserve energy, get enough rest, eat on time, drink sufficient plain water, and always follow the instructions of the officers,” Maria said in an official statement.
Maria explained that up to the 21st day of Hajj operations, 341 kloters with 132,057 pilgrims and 1,361 officers have been dispatched to Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, 240 kloters with 92,767 pilgrims and 960 officers have arrived in Mecca from Medina.
For the second wave arrivals via Jeddah, 67 kloters with 25,541 pilgrims and 269 officers have arrived. Additionally, 5,766 special Hajj pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia.
Kemenhaj also reminded elderly pilgrims, those with disabilities, and high-risk pilgrims to immediately report to officers if they experience health complaints such as dizziness, shortness of breath, chest pain, fever, severe coughing, or declining physical condition.
“Do not wait for the condition to worsen. Health is the primary provision for the peak of Hajj,” Maria said.
Maria further emphasised the important role of the Hajj and Umrah Worship Guidance Groups (KBIHU) in assisting pilgrims. KBIHU is expected to help strengthen education on health, safety, order, and discipline among pilgrims, in addition to providing ritual guidance.
Kemenhaj has also issued a circular regulating pilgrim movements as a mitigation step ahead of the peak Hajj phase. Pilgrims are asked to comply with officer instructions, both in activities from the hotel to Masjidil Haram, movements from Medina to Mecca, and preparations to Armuzna.
Specifically for second-wave pilgrims arriving via Jeddah, Maria advised them to wear ihram cloth from the embarkation point as they will take miqat during the journey to Saudi Arabia and proceed directly to Mecca to perform the obligatory umrah.
“On behalf of Kemenhaj, we convey our deepest condolences. May the deceased be granted the best place by Allah SWT and the bereaved family be given strength,” Maria said.
Maria appreciated all Indonesian Hajj officers who continue to work to provide the best services to pilgrims. She also invited pilgrims to maintain their health, conserve energy, comply with movement regulations, and strengthen their worship readiness.
“May Allah SWT grant ease, protection, and health to all Indonesian Hajj pilgrims, and make their Hajj accepted,” Maria said.
