Ministry of Hajj: One Hajj pilgrim from Cianjur passes away before departure
The Cianjur District Office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) in West Java has recorded the death of one prospective Hajj pilgrim from Cianjur due to illness, reducing the number of pilgrims from Cianjur to 73. Cianjur (ANTARA) - Herriyanto, Head of Kemenhaj Cianjur, stated in Cianjur on Wednesday that the pilgrim who passed away on Wednesday morning (6/5) was Nenden Rostiati (82), a resident of Kampung Bojong Pilar, Kelurahan Bojongherang, Cianjur Subdistrict. His office received a report from the family that the pilgrim died due to a heart condition, leading to consultations with the family to determine subsequent actions. Regarding replacement or other matters, he added, consultations with the family are ongoing first, ensuring that no pilgrims from Cianjur will fail to depart due to health or other reasons. He explained that Cianjur’s 2026 Hajj quota consists of 73 individuals in the first and only cluster from Cianjur, with a departure schedule on 17 May, where all preparations—from administration and health to Hajj rituals—have been completed. “All preparations are ready, including visas which have all been issued, so we are just awaiting the departure time,” he said. He added that the health aspect of pilgrims is the primary concern in this year’s Hajj departure preparations, with all pilgrims confirmed to have undergone health examinations as a mandatory requirement.
