Banjarbaru (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) directly monitored the departure of the first batch of prospective Hajj pilgrims from Banjarmasin Embarkation in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, on Thursday night.

“We are monitoring the services provided to the pilgrims during departure, from the dormitory to the airport,” said the Director General of Hajj and Umrah Implementation Control at Kemenhaj, Harun Al Rasyid, in Banjarbaru on Thursday night.

Harun assessed that all stages of the pilgrims’ departure proceeded well with the support of all stakeholders.

He noted that various service innovations that provide convenience for pilgrims greatly help ensure that pilgrims are not overly fatigued ahead of departure.

For example, Immigration officers conducted direct passport verification at the Hajj Dormitory, so no further checks are needed upon entering the airport.

This is one of the efforts to make the Hajj pilgrims more comfortable and quicker during boarding.

In addition, all Hajj pilgrims departed from the Hajj Dormitory to the airport using 10 buses in safe, sterile, and sealed conditions.

“We also thank the Governor of South Kalimantan, Haji Muhidin, and Forkopimda officials for their optimal support in the entire departure process for the pilgrims,” he said.

To the pilgrims, Harun advised maintaining health by avoiding unnecessary activities while in the Holy Land.

“Drink plenty of white water because the Hajj season is usually at the peak of summer,” he added.

It is known that the first batch from Banjarmasin Embarkation departed 359 prospective Hajj pilgrims with a flight schedule on Friday early morning (24/4) at 00:05 WITA.
