Ministry of Hajj: Indonesia's 2027 Hajj Quota to Remain at 221,000 Pilgrims

The Indonesian Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, stated that although the 2027 Hajj quota has not yet been officially announced by the Saudi Arabian authorities, the timeline received by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah suggests it will remain consistent with the current year’s quota. “The quota has not been officially written with a specific figure, but in the documents we received on 13 Dzulhijah, all countries are expected to use existing data. This means we are using the 221,000 figure as our reference,” said Gus Irfan at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Banten, on Monday (8/6/2026).

Gus Irfan noted that the Indonesian government has received the Hajj implementation timeline from the Saudi Arabian government. This document outlines various stages and deadlines that sending countries must meet to prepare for the 2027 Hajj season. He explained that this quota will serve as a primary reference for the government’s domestic preparations. Furthermore, the timeline specifies that the Saudi government has set a healthcare worker ratio of 1.5 doctors and 1.7 nurses for every 1,000 pilgrims.

With Indonesia’s pilgrim quota exceeding 200,000 people, the requirement for healthcare personnel is estimated to reach approximately 300 doctors and nearly 400 nurses. “Therefore, for 2027, we must work hard to meet these needs,” stated Minister Irfan.

Additionally, the Saudi Arabian government has mandated that the Hajj service contract process must be conducted through the Nusuk platform, with payments made via e-wallet systems. According to the Minister, the Saudi authorities are continuously optimising the use of the e-Nusuk application to simplify the entire service process for pilgrims. “The Saudi Arabian government is increasingly maximising the use of the e-Nusuk application, which will make things much easier for all pilgrims,” added Irfan.
