Ministry of Hajj Ensures Handling of Victims from Hajj Pilgrim Bus Incident in Madinah

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has assured that the pilgrims affected by the bus accident in Madinah, involving the Surabaya (SUB 02) and Jakarta (JKS 01) groups, have received medical treatment and assistance from officials. “Kemenhaj assures that the affected pilgrims have received medical treatment and assistance from officials,” stated the Head of Public Relations Bureau of Kemenhaj, Moh. Hasan Afandi, in Jakarta on Wednesday. Based on the chronology received, he continued, the SUB 02 bus, which was travelling, collided with the side of the JKS 01 bus on 28 April 2026 at 10.30 Saudi Arabia Time (WAS) at Jabal Magnet. In the incident, seven JKS-01 Hajj participants, two members of the SUB-02 group, and one administrator from the Hajj Worship Guidance Group (KBIH) sustained minor injuries. Kemenhaj stated that it has facilitated prospective Hajj pilgrims to visit places of worship in Madinah, including Masjid Qiblatain, Masjid Quba, and Jabal Uhud. Kemenhaj has requested KBIH to actively coordinate with official officials and comply with all applicable advisories and regulations for the benefit and safety of the pilgrims. If violations are still found, he said, particularly those that neglect pilgrim safety, Kemenhaj threatens to revoke the operational licence of the relevant KBIH. “The safety, order, and comfort of pilgrims is the top priority that cannot be compromised. We also urge all pilgrims to maintain their health, carry only necessary items, follow the instructions of officials, and preserve devotion in worship,” said Hasan.
