Ministry of Hajj Ensures 100% Completion of Nusuk Cards, to be Distributed at Embarkation Points

Jakarta, VIVA – The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has confirmed that the Nusuk Card, a digital card functioning as a “Hajj passport”, is 100% complete and will be distributed by service providers (syarikah) to pilgrims at embarkation points before departure to the Holy Land.

“The Nusuk Cards will be distributed here. And yesterday, the syarikah stated they are ready, 100% complete here,” said Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak in Jakarta on Thursday.

The Nusuk Card is a digital identity that must be used by pilgrims while in Saudi Arabia. The card is provided and must be activated by the Hajj service providers contracted by the government.

This card serves to distinguish between official and illegal pilgrims, and contains information such as name, photo, place and date of birth, accommodation location, and other important pilgrim data.

In addition to serving as identification, the Nusuk Card is also the primary requirement for pilgrims to access main services and areas, such as the city of Makkah and Masjidil Haram. The Nusuk Card complements the mandatory Hajj visa carried by pilgrims.

The issue of Nusuk Card distribution has been a problem in the two previous years of Hajj organisation. Many Hajj participants did not receive the card until just before the Hajj peak. However, the card is the “entry ticket” to Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina.

To anticipate this problem not recurring, Kemenhaj has urged that Nusuk be distributed before pilgrims depart for the Holy Land.

“So, last year the Nusuk Cards were distributed in Saudi Arabia. Now, they will be distributed at embarkation points, directly by the syarikah,” said Dahnil.

This swift action is appreciated by the Chair of DPR RI’s Commission VIII, Marwan Dasopang. According to him, Kemenhaj has managed to complete the issuance of pilgrim visas and the distribution of Nusuk cards before departure, which often becomes a problem.

“The complete issuance of visas is an important achievement. Likewise, the Nusuk cards that will be distributed before departure are part of efforts to improve services to pilgrims,” said Marwan.

He emphasised that Hajj organisation each year always faces different dynamics, thus requiring strong adaptability from all stakeholders.
