Ministry of Hajj: Do Not Be Tempted by Offers for Unauthorised Hajj!
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) of Indonesia has once again emphasised its commitment to preventing non-procedural or illegal Hajj practices. This measure is aimed at safeguarding the security and safety of pilgrims during the Hajj season of 1447 H/2026 AD.
Inspector of Region II from the Inspectorate General (Itjen) of Kemenhaj RI, Ade Muhtar, hopes that the public will not be swayed by the enticements of parties seeking to exploit the situation. Typically, such “promotions” promise ease of departure for Hajj even without official regular documentation.
“Please think twice because entry into Mecca is extremely strict. At minimum, three checks are conducted by the authorities and the local police,” said Ade Muhtar during a break from inspecting the accommodation and catering services for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, on Friday (9/5/2026).
Even if one manages to depart for the Holy Land through illegal channels, it ultimately harms other Indonesian pilgrims. The perpetrators thus disregard the plight of prospective regular pilgrims who willingly queue for a dozen or even tens of years.
“It is certainly unjust to take someone else’s rights through improper means,” said Ade.
In early May 2026, 10 Indonesian citizens (WNI) were arrested by Saudi Arabian authorities. This was due to suspicions of their involvement in promoting and providing illegal Hajj services.
Regarding developments in the case, Ade revealed that examinations are still ongoing by local authorities. He emphasised that travel agencies or Hajj pilgrimage guidance groups (KBIH) involved will face sanctions.
