Ministry of Hajj Contacts Airlines Regarding Delay in Hajj Luggage Distribution
Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf has assured that the distribution of luggage to Hajj pilgrims will be completed by 17 April. The Ministry’s team has issued warnings to the company responsible for distributing the luggage regarding the delays that occurred.
“The distribution at the latest by 17 April will be in the hands of the pilgrims. Regarding the luggage, we have sent a warning letter and also dispatched an assistance team to monitor and help with the luggage distribution,” said Irfan during a working meeting with Commission VIII of the House of Representatives at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (14/4/2026).
The Ministry’s team has visited one of the companies in Bogor, which was one of the causes of the delay in luggage distribution. The Ministry has also sent letters to airlines regarding this delay.
“We also yesterday sent a letter to Garuda as a warning about this delay, and as suggested earlier, we have started thinking about what punishment we should impose for this luggage delay,” he stated.
“Including visiting the company in Bogor, which was also one of the sources of delay there,” he added.
Furthermore, the Ministry has coordinated with hotels for the pilgrims regarding their facilities. The Ministry’s field team is directly monitoring improvements to the pilgrims’ facilities.
“Particularly regarding improvements to facilities such as carpets, curtains, as well as ablution and sanitation areas to make them safer and more comfortable for the pilgrims,” he said.
