Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Seeks to Ensure 2027 Hajj Costs Do Not Burden Pilgrims Despite Potential BPIH Increase

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is making efforts to ensure that prospective Hajj pilgrims are not overburdened, even though there is a potential increase in the Hajj Travel Cost (BPIH) due to rising components of the pilgrimage expenses. Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf stated at the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory in Jakarta that while a cost increase is likely, the ministry is striving to ensure any rise does not weigh heavily on the pilgrims. He explained that the potential BPIH increase is triggered by hikes in nearly all cost components, including the US dollar exchange rate, aviation fuel prices, and various service tariffs set by the Saudi Arabian government, including services in the Masyair area. The Saudi government has also changed the service scheme from Category D to Category C, which automatically increases the overall cost. The government, together with Commission VIII of the House of Representatives, will soon discuss the guidelines for setting the Hajj Travel Cost and the Hajj Travel Expenses.
