Padang (ANTARA) - The West Sumatra Provincial Office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has reported that a hajj candidate from the Padang Embarkation, originating from Bengkulu, passed away in Madinah on Wednesday (29 April 2026).
“Sad news has come from the hajj candidates of the Padang Embarkation. A hajj candidate from Bengkulu City, who was part of the PDG 04 flight group, passed away in Madinah, Saudi Arabia,” said the Head of the Hajj Organising Committee (PPIH) for the Padang Embarkation, M. “Upon departure from the Padang Embarkation on Monday, 27 April 2026, the individual’s health condition was healthy and stable,” he stated.
Upon arrival in Madinah, Rifki said, Tukiman performed prayers at Masjid Nabawi before returning to the hotel to rest. However, on Wednesday (29 April 2026) morning around 06:00 Saudi Arabia time, he was found unconscious in the courtyard of Masjid Nabawi. The cluster’s health officers, along with local medical teams, immediately provided first aid.
“The deceased was then rushed to As Salam Hospital in Madinah for further treatment. Despite receiving medical intervention, he was declared dead,” he said.
Based on medical reports, the hajj candidate from Bengkulu died from a heart attack (acute myocardial infarction) triggered by a blockage in the coronary arteries.
“The cluster officers have coordinated with relevant parties for the jenazah preparation process. The deceased has been prayed over and directly buried in the Baqi Cemetery in Madinah,” he added.
Rifki, who is also the Head of the West Sumatra Kemenhaj Office, reminded other hajj candidates to continue maintaining their health while in the Holy Land.
“Maintain your health, regulate worship activities, and reduce non-essential outdoor activities. Follow the instructions of the officers to keep your condition stable,” he advised.
