The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj), through its Hajj Organising Committee (PPIH) in Saudi Arabia, has received an award from the Al-Mushaf Waqf Foundation, representing Adahi, for successfully facilitating pilgrims in paying dam nusuk (fines) through the official institution. “This certificate of appreciation from Al-Mushaf Waqf is a token of gratitude for the excellent cooperation from PPIH Saudi Arabia in assisting pilgrims to make dam payments to Adahi,” said General Supervisor of Al-Mushaf Waqf, Iskandar Muhammad Ismail, in Makkah on Tuesday. The award plaque was handed over directly by Iskandar Muhammad Ismail to the Head of PPIH Saudi Arabia, Ian Heriyawan. The ceremony was also attended by the Head of the Makkah Working Area, Ihsan Faisal, and the Head of the Worship Guidance Section for the Makkah Working Area, Erti Herlina. Adahi is the sole official institution appointed by the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to manage and serve the slaughtering of dam or hadyu animals and sacrificial offerings for all pilgrims in the Holy Land. The obligation to pay dam nusuk applies to pilgrims performing tamattu (Umrah first, then Hajj) and qiran (Umrah and Hajj performed together) rituals. Conversely, pilgrims who opt for ifrad are not subject to this fine. He emphasised that involvement in the Adahi programme is an important instrument to ensure the entire process of slaughtering, distribution, and reporting of dam is carried out professionally according to standards. This Hajj season, the Indonesian Government has been striving to drive a transformation in dam governance to make it more orderly, transparent, and properly recorded. This step is not only to fulfil fiqh requirements but also to ensure the dam meat is beneficial and reaches those entitled to receive it. According to Kemenhaj data, the total number of pilgrims who fulfilled the dam obligation reached 195,326 people. Of that figure, the majority — 135,367 pilgrims — paid the dam through Adahi, 53,506 pilgrims paid in their home country, and 6,453 pilgrims fulfilled it by fasting. Meanwhile, the number of ifrad pilgrims was recorded at 4,084 people.
