The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is proposing an additional budget of Rp 1.84 trillion in the 2027 draft state revenue and expenditure budget. The additional budget is needed to support various preparations for organising the hajj pilgrimage that were not included in the indicative spending ceiling for the 2027 fiscal year. Hajj and Umrah Minister Moch Irfan Yusuf stated that the need for additional funding arose because several components of hajj preparation had not been accommodated in the government’s set budget ceiling. “There is a budget adjustment, around 1.8 trillion. Because the hajj preparations were not budgeted for in the 2027 indicative ceiling previously. So we are proposing an additional 1.8 trillion for hajj preparations,” said Irfan at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday. According to Irfan, the additional budget will be used to support various preparatory needs for organising the hajj, both domestically and in Saudi Arabia. One of the main focuses is strengthening human resources within the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, which is currently still in the formation and organisational structuring phase. He explained that the newly established ministry still requires additional personnel and capacity building for its apparatus so it can optimally carry out its service functions and the governance of hajj and umrah.
