Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Proposes Pilgrims Pay Rp 42.8 Million for 2027 Hajj

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has proposed that prospective Hajj pilgrims pay approximately IDR 42.8 million for the 1448 Hijri/2027 AD Hajj season. The total proposed Hajj Organising Cost (BPIH) stands at IDR 107 million.

“So, if the total is IDR 107 million, it means the amount paid by pilgrims would be around IDR 42.8 million, while the portion covered through the benefits managed by the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) would be around IDR 64.2 million,” stated the Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/7/2026).

Dahnil noted that the proposal involves adjusting the financing composition between the Hajj travel costs (Bipih) paid by pilgrims and the benefit values managed by the BPKH, compared to previous Hajj seasons.

He explained that the proposed BPIH of IDR 107 million was developed based on rational calculations, taking into account the rising costs of several Hajj implementation components.

According to him, this increase is driven by rising aviation fuel prices, flight tariffs, and various Hajj services provided by the Saudi Arabian government, such as hotel accommodation and tent facilities in the Mashair area.

Nevertheless, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah emphasised that it does not wish to burden prospective pilgrims amidst the ongoing uncertainty in the global economy.

Consequently, the government has proposed this change in the Hajj financing composition to Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), whereby the portion paid by pilgrims would account for approximately 40 per cent of the total BPIH, while approximately 60 per cent would be covered through BPKH benefits.
