Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has ensured that health services for prospective Hajj pilgrims, such as the Indonesian Hajj Health Clinic (KKHI) and strengthened referral systems with hospitals in Saudi Arabia, will operate 24 hours during the Hajj season. “KKHI is open 24 hours every day, yes,” stated Enny Nuryanti, Head of the Medina Work Area Health Section, in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. She explained that this step is to maintain the health condition of pilgrims, especially amid the potential for extreme weather that could affect physical endurance during worship. She assured that medical personnel are always available and on standby to handle various health complaints from pilgrims. The Medina KKHI is supported by a team consisting of general practitioners and specialists, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory staff, radiographers, and sanitation experts. In terms of facilities, the KKHI is equipped with ambulances, patient treatment rooms with beds, and medical equipment such as X-ray radiology, ultrasound, and a pharmacy to support comprehensive health services. Several partner hospitals that have collaborated include Saudi German Hospital as well as government hospitals like King Fahd Hospital and Al Madinah Hospital. “With this referral network, pilgrims who require further treatment can immediately receive care according to their medical condition,” she said. Enny reminded that dehydration is one of the most common health issues during the Hajj season. She highlighted the habit of some pilgrims reducing water intake due to fear of frequent urination. “Sometimes pilgrims don’t want to drink because they’re afraid of going to the toilet often, which actually increases the risk of dehydration,” she said. She advised pilgrims to continue consuming water regularly in small but frequent amounts to maintain body fluid balance without causing discomfort.
