Ministry of Hajj and Umrah confirms Jayawijaya prospective pilgrims are in good health

Wamena (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) Office in Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Pegunungan, has confirmed that prospective Hajj pilgrims from the local area are in good condition and healthy, enabling them to perform the Hajj pilgrimage in the Holy Land of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, with devotion. “The health of the prospective Hajj pilgrims is in good condition and they can carry out this Hajj pilgrimage well and smoothly as we hope,” said the Head of the Kemenhaj Office in Jayawijaya Regency, Nurhayaty, in Wamena on Sunday. She stated that the quota for prospective Hajj pilgrims for Jayawijaya Regency in 2026 has increased compared to 2025. “The Hajj pilgrims in 2025 numbered 37 people, while in 2026 it has increased to 42 people. The current prospective Hajj pilgrims have been waiting or entered the Hajj list in 2013,” she said. “These 41 prospective Hajj pilgrims will join cluster 31, while one Hajj pilgrim will join cluster 27 from Jayapura City. This is because one Hajj pilgrim from Jayapura City withdrew, so it was offered to a prospective Hajj pilgrim from Jayawijaya Regency to join cluster 27 from Jayapura City, and the prospective pilgrim agreed,” she explained. The prospective Hajj pilgrims from Jayawijaya Regency in cluster 31 will enter the Hajj Dormitory in Jayapura City on 12 May 2026, before departing to the Holy Land via the Makassar Embarkation on 13 May 2026. The Head of the Jayawijaya Regency Prospective Hajj Group, Yoyo I Sriyoto, expressed gratitude for the long-awaited opportunity since 2012 to perform the Hajj pilgrimage this year. “We are very grateful to have the opportunity to perform the Hajj pilgrimage this year, as we have been waiting quite a long time since 2012. We hope that this year’s Hajj pilgrimage will go well and smoothly,” he said.
