The Regional Office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) for North Sumatra Province has stated that 5,933 prospective Hajj pilgrims from North Sumatra are scheduled to depart for the Holy Land this year.

“Total number of our pilgrims (North Sumatra) is 5,933 people. Alhamdulillah, we received an additional quota of 20 pilgrims,” said the Head of the North Sumatra Kemenhaj Regional Office, Zulkifli Sitorus, in Medan on Tuesday.

These 5,933 prospective pilgrims from North Sumatra, he continued, hail from 33 regencies/cities with an average waiting period of over a decade.

He stated that various stages of preparation for the pilgrims’ departure to the Holy Land have proceeded smoothly up to this point.

“First, regarding our preparations. Alhamdulillah, the stages have gone well so far. From document processing to the pilgrims’ health checks, which are requirements for istitha’ah,” said Zulkifli.

“Most recently, the Nusuk Cards will be distributed at the embarkation points, and that has also been prepared. We just need to wait for North Sumatra’s syarikah, which is the series of almasarik,” he added.

According to Zulkifli, the prepared personnel will distribute the Nusuk Cards to each prospective pilgrim while they are still at the embarkation before departure to the Holy Land.

“Insya Allah, each embarkation will have representatives from the syarikah from Saudi Arabia present to ensure that the Nusuk Cards reach the pilgrims,” said Zulkifli.

Kemenhaj has ensured that the Nusuk Card, a digital card functioning like a Hajj passport, is 100 percent complete and will soon be distributed by the syarikah to the pilgrims at the embarkation points before departure to the Holy Land.

The Nusuk Card is a digital identity that must be used by every pilgrim while in Saudi Arabia. The card is provided and must be activated by the contracted Hajj service provider syarikah.

This card functions to distinguish between official and illegal pilgrims, and contains information such as name, photo, place and date of birth, accommodation location, and other important pilgrim data.

In addition to serving as identification, the Nusuk Card is also the primary requirement for pilgrims to access services and main areas, such as the city of Makkah and Masjidil Haram.
