The Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut) is strengthening its policy direction for 2027 in an effort to preserve forests while simultaneously boosting the economy and community welfare. Deputy Minister of Forestry Rohmat Marzuki stated in Jakarta on Friday that there are at least four strategic targets for Kemenhut in 2027. “First, increasing forest cover and preserving biodiversity; then increasing the income of communities living around forest areas,” said Rohmat. Further strategic targets include increasing the production of goods and services derived from forests based on sustainability principles, and improving forestry bureaucratic governance. The Deputy Minister said the 2027 budget is divided into three programmes, including a Management Support Programme amounting to Rp4.264 trillion or 59.71 percent; a Sustainable Forest Management Programme amounting to Rp2.740 trillion or 38.37 percent; and a Vocational Education and Training Programme amounting to Rp137.14 billion or 1.92 percent. “The expenditure composition of the Ministry of Forestry above shows that the allocated budget can provide optimal benefits and have an impact on community welfare, forest sustainability and economic contributions to the state,” said Rohmat. The indicative budget ceiling and proposed additional budget will be submitted to the Budget Committee of the Indonesian House of Representatives for further discussion in accordance with statutory regulations.
