Jakarta – The Ministry of Forestry (Menhut) announced that social forestry initiatives at Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) in East Kalimantan represent part of the government’s commitment to strengthening community access to forest management.

This follows the distribution of social forestry permits to four forest farmer groups (Kelompok Tani Hutan, or KTH) covering a total of 833 hectares for 140 households.

“My respects to the forest farmer groups from President Prabowo Subianto; this is once again a flagship programme of the President, where forests as natural resources are maximised for the welfare of the people,” said Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni in a statement received in Jakarta on Sunday.

The four KTH recipients of the permits are KTH Meranti Bakungan Makmur, KTH Sentosa Rimba, KTH Quarry, and KTH Perjuangan Penjaga Hutan Teluk Pandan.

Minister Raja Antoni stated that President Prabowo Subianto’s flagship programme provides legal certainty for communities to utilise forest areas productively and sustainably.

“We are jointly distributing social forestry permits to these four KTH as part of the 8.3 million social forestry certificates already distributed to communities,” said Raja Antoni.

Raja Antoni, who previously served as Deputy Head of OIKN (Office of Ibu Kota Nusantara), noted that the permit distribution was particularly significant because it took place at IKN. He emphasised that IKN represents the capital city of Indonesia’s aspirations with strong direct support from President Prabowo.

“The event is special because it is held at IKN, a location that truly embodies the dream, vision and manifestation of the Indonesian people’s desire for a new capital city, Nusantara Capital,” said the Minister.

“Praise be, we see very strong political support from President Prabowo Subianto. This distribution of social forestry certificates is particularly significant because it is being distributed at IKN,” he added.
